Ring Size Guide

Ring Size Guide: How to Measure and International Size Conversions

How to Measure Your Ring Size

Method 1: Using an Existing Ring

  • Place your ring on a flat surface
  • Use a ruler or calliper to measure the inside diameter in millimetres
  • Measure from edge to edge across the widest part of the inner circle
  • For most accurate results, measure the diameter at several points
  • Use the diameter measurement to find your size in the conversion chart below

String or Paper Strip Method (circumference)

  1. Get a piece of string or strip of paper about 6 inches (15 cm) long
  2. Wrap it around your finger where you would wear the ring
  3. Mark where the string or paper overlaps with a pen
  4. Measure the length from the start to your mark with a ruler in millimetres
  5. Use the measurement to find your size in the conversion chart below

Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Measure at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest
  • Don't measure when you're cold (fingers shrink) or very hot (fingers swell)
  • Make sure the measuring tool is snug but not tight
  • Measure 3-4 times to ensure consistency
  • Consider wider rings may need 0.5 size larger than thin rings
  • Account for knuckle size when measuring

Special Considerations

Width Adjustment

For rings wider than 6mm, consider going up 0.5 size:

  • 6-8mm wide: +0.5 size
  • 8mm+ wide: +1 size

Temperature Effects

  • Cold weather can reduce finger size by up to 1 full size
  • Hot weather can increase finger size by up to 1 full size
  • Measure in normal room temperature for best results

Common Ring Sizes

  • Women: Most common sizes range from 5-7
  • Men: Most common sizes range from 8-10
  • Remember these are just averages; individual sizes vary greatly

Care Tips for Proper Fit

  • Ring should slide over knuckle with slight resistance
  • Should twist slightly on finger with some effort
  • Should not leave deep marks when removed
  • Should not slide off when hands are wet or cold
  • Should not feel tight when hands are warm
